Life is Easy For a Boy Named Anibal; Sanchez Selected First Overall in Draft

The 2007 NYLISL Free Agent draft took place on February 3 in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, home of the league champion New Jersey Bandits. Ed Price's West Side Stories had the first overall pick in the draft, which he used to select right-handed starter Anibal Sanchez. After 14 rounds and 71 players selected, the Wellwood Scribes took catcher Elizier Alfonzo with the 72nd and final pick of the draft. With the 40-man rosters of six of the eight NYLISL teams built, regular season play opened up on April 7 when the New Jersey Bandits traveled across the George Washington Bridge to take on the West Side Stories.
